Description of offer

The Department of Neurosurgery at Meyer Hospital is a very busy service that covers all the field of pediatric neurosurgery including overskilled procedures such as DBS and SEEG. Near 700 surgical procedures are performed per year.

The Department of Neurosurgery at Meyer Hospital provides surgery for complex malformations (spinal dysraphism, craniosynostosis, hydrocephalus, intracranial cysts) by classic microsurgical and neuroendoscopic approach. Brain and spinal cord tumor surgery includes the most advanced techniques of neuronavigation and neuromonitoring. The program of epilepsy surgery is well developed and comprehends SEEG and all the surgical techniques (lobectomy, hemispherotomy, hpothalamic hamartoma disconnection). The spasticity is treated by ITB and dorsal rhizotomy and the same similar techniques are applied for the treatment of pain (morphine pump, spinal cord stimulation, DREZtomy). We are equipped with a robotized stereotactic system (Neuromate – Renishaw) for SEEG, DBS and brain biopsy. Complex spine malformations (scoliosis, hemivertebra, cranio-cervical anomalies) are frequently treated with different system of fixation.
