I am Mazen Elshikh, a Medical Doctor and recent graduate of the Omdurman Islamic University Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences. My strong professional interest lies in General Surgery, and I am actively pursuing specialization in this field.
​My early clinical experience includes a four-month focused training program at Kassala Teaching Hospital. This on-site experience provided me with valuable exposure to a diverse range of surgical cases and the practical application of basic surgical principles in a demanding environment.
​I am keen to join the InterSurgeon community to achieve three main goals: to secure specialized training opportunities that will advance my surgical skills; to engage in knowledge exchange with experienced surgeons globally; and to collaborate on research projects focused on addressing surgical challenges in limited-resource settings like Sudan. My partnership experience in Sudan involved a four-month training program with Kassala Teaching Hospital in Kassala city. The primary issues encountered during this period were periodic electrical power outages, scarcity of necessary medical equipment, and the lack of a conducive working environment within the hospital. Despite these significant challenges, the program achieved a good level of success in terms of clinical exposure and learning. Over the four months, we were exposed to over 50 patient cases, observed more than 30 clinical examinations, and thoroughly discussed all cases in extensive detail. This experience was highly valuable for detailed clinical insight and knowledge exchange
