Maahum Haider, M.D., M.P.H. is a physician at UWMC-Roosevelt Men’s Health Center and the Puget Sound Veterans Administration Hospital and a UW assistant professor of Urology. Dr. Haider’s goal is to form a partnership with patients built on trust, compassion and shared decision making. She believes all patients are entitled to the most up-to-date knowledge and insight on their disease process so they can be actively engaged in their care. Dr. Haider earned her M.D. at UCLA and her M.P.H. at the UW. She is a member of the American Urologic Association and Society for Women in Urology and is a board member for IVUmed, an international urologic NGO. Dr. Haider is passionate about health equity and improving the quality of urologic care in low and middle-income countries through training and sharing expertise with local providers. She believes that InterSurgeon is a resource for all urologists who are interested in conducting international urologic work in a responsible and sustainable way. By networking with other like-minded urologists and making more efficient use of collective resources, urologists can limit waste and expand their potential impact. Ultimately, as InterSurgeon's influence grows, we hope to lobby for systemic change through the WHO to advocate for the inclusion of surgical care in national health plans and the Millenium Development goals.
