Our Mission Statement
The Surgical Council on Resident Education is a nonprofit, noncommercial consortium formed in 2004 by the principal organizations involved in U.S. surgical education. SCORE's mission is to improve the education of trainees in general surgery and related specialties through the development of a standard curriculum. Our website, The SCORE Portal, was created to provide high-quality educational content in support of the SCORE Curriculum Outline to residents and residency programs. All portal content is developed by surgical educators in that area as well as reviewed by the SCORE Editorial Board. All content on the SCORE Portal is peer-reviewed.
SCORE's efforts are intended to define the specialty of general surgery and provide greater assurance that residents everywhere are receiving sufficient training in all areas.
