G4 Alliance Conflicts & Disasters Working Group: Supporting Surgical Care in Humanitarian Settings
Conflict and disasters place enormous pressure on already stretched health systems, disrupting access to essential surgical, obstetric, trauma and anaesthesia care at precisely the time when these services are most urgently needed.
The G4 Alliance Conflicts & Disasters Working Group brings together members of the global surgery community with an interest in improving the coordination, delivery and sustainability of surgical care in conflict-affected and disaster settings. InterSurgeon is pleased to be actively involved in the Working Group and to support opportunities for our members to engage with this important area of global surgery.

The Working Group’s latest project is a series of webinars provides an opportunity to hear from those working directly in this field, share experience and consider some of the practical challenges of delivering surgical care in humanitarian settings.
We particularly encourage InterSurgeon members working in surgery, anaesthesia, trauma, emergency care, nursing, rehabilitation and humanitarian health to join the discussion. The webinar will also be relevant to organisations involved in strengthening surgical systems or supporting healthcare teams in conflict- and disaster-affected regions.
The first webinar speaker is from the conflict torn nation of Sudan. Chair of the C&D Working Group and InterSurgeon member, Amy Leah Potter says:
One of InterSurgeon’s key aims is to connect people with relevant expertise to those who need it. The Conflicts & Disasters Working Group provides another way for our community to share knowledge, learn from colleagues working in very different settings and build connections across organisations and countries.
We hope you will join us for the webinar and be part of the conversation.
