Description of offer

We have established a living biobank of cultured brain tumors, collected from our operating room. Our goal is to link these specimens to very detailed imaging and genetic data, and provide this free of charge to collaborators. We would like to work with neurosurgeons and brain tumor researchers anywhere in the world who are guided by the same purpose.

ADVICE ON CLINICAL MANAGEMENT: I would be very happy to review and comment on cases relevant to pediatric neurosurgery, craniofacial problems, hydrocephalus, or brain tumors.

DIDACTIC LECTURES: I am available to give lectures on pediatric neurosurgery, tumor imaging, and tumor biology.  In particular, my laboratory research is on epigenetic regulation of diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma (DIPG) growth and metabolism.

RESEARCH: We would be very happy to send or receive specimens for live culture.  We are satellite members of the Children’s Brain Tumor Tissue Consortium, so our tumors will be banked and shared with multiple facilities and undergo whole genome and RNA sequencing.  Imaging data is shared with collaborators at Stanford for processing in deep learning models that aim to improve tumor classification and treatment planning.
