The Burn and Frostbite Center at UCHealth is offering an up to 1 month in-person observership for burn professionals on our unit. This is a great opportunity for members of your burn team to come learn 21st century burn care alongside burn professionals at a nationally-renowned burn center in the United States!
The burn team at the Burn and Frostbite Center at UCHealth is offering an open invitation for any burn care professionals to come spend up to 1 month on our unit for a clinical observership in burn care. This offer is open to all burn care professionals, including MD’s, nursing, physiotherapy, social work, nutrition, or pharmacy.
The Burn and Frostbite Center at UCHealth is a 19-bed inpatient burn unit that admits over 500 patients a year and sees over 3000 visits in our outpatient clinic. The majority of patients treated are for burn injuries, but we also manage patients with desquamating skin disorders, hidradenitis suppurativa, and necrotising soft tissue infections. Our burn unit is verified by the American Burn Association using the latest technology in burn care (e.g. epidermal spray-on skin, dermal substitutes, enzymatic debridement). Our multidisciplinary team includes experts in burn nursing, physiotherapy, nutrition, psychology, social work, respiratory therapy and pharmacy. We provide the best care possible for our burn patients so that they can continue to live a productive and meaningful life!
As a clinical observer at our burn center, you will get to see first hand how our multidisciplinary team provides the best care possible for our patients. You will rotate through the different areas including the burn ICU and ward, outpatient clinic, and if interested observe burn surgery in the operating room. You will get to see firsthand how we coordinate care as a team with our multidisciplinary rounds and how we continue to improve through our QI process. At the end of your observership you will be given a Certificate of Completion as confirmation of your observership.
