InterSurgeon Joins Global Neurosurgical Leaders in Boston Declaration

24th April, 2025, Edward M. Kennedy Institute, Boston, Massachusetts.

Last week, on April 25, 2025, InterSurgeon, along with 100 neurosurgical associations, departments, and practices, industry partners, patient and family associations, pledged for a global action for neurosurgical care at the Edward M. Kennedy Institute. This declaration represents the united commitment of neurosurgery leaders from around the world.

Dr. James Johnston, a pediatric neurosurgeon at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and co-founder of InterSurgeon, presented InterSurgeon’s pledge to “continue fostering and catalyzing long-term partnerships, aiming to grow our membership, strengthen fundraising efforts, implement community-driven global surgery projects, and ensure measurable impact.”

It was inspiring to see InterSurgeon members, like Mission: Brain, Pangea Global Health Education, The University of Alabama at Birmingham, Solidarity Bridge, Neurokids, and the G4 Alliance, among others, committing to this declaration. One of the key takeaways from the event was the need for collaboration among global neurosurgery leaders and the necessity for a platform to facilitate this.

InterSurgeon is ready to serve as this collaboration platform, supporting partnerships for clinical assistance, education, equipment, research, training programs, and more. This initiative aims to grow the the global neurosurgery community and collaboration while integrating with the broader global surgery community.
