InterSurgeon are delighted to offer our members an opportunity to assist the Global Surgery Foundation (GSF) with a new initiative.

We are excited to invite you to take part in the SURGhub MOOVE Initiative, a new effort by the Global Surgery Foundation to explore how artificial intelligence can support surgical and perioperative care in challenging settings.

GSF has joined the MOOVE Initiative, an international collaboration led by Harvard University and EPFL Lausanne. The goal is to train a large language model (LLM) that is specifically adapted to the realities of resource-limited settings, ensuring AI tools are appropriate and useful for clinicians like you.

Broader description of the initiative can be found here: https://www.globalsurgeryfoundation.org/news/surghub-joins-moove-ai-surgery-remote-settings

What’s involved

Your expertise is critical to make this possible. Participation is flexible and can be adapted to your availability. The main tasks are:

  • Challenge the LLMs with clinical scenarios relevant to your context and specialty.
  • Evaluate responses by ranking two answers based on set criteria.
  • Review and evaluate colleagues’ scenarios.

Who we are looking for

We are seeking experienced clinicians who can bring authentic perspectives from LMICs:

  • Based in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs)
  • Senior-level (at least 5 years of practice)
  • Surgeons or anaesthesiologists
  • From the following specialties:
    • General Surgery
    • Obstetrics / Gynaecology
    • Anaesthesia
    • Paediatric Surgery
    • Plastic / Reconstructive Surgery
    • Orthopaedic Surgery
    • Neuro Surgery

Your contributions will directly shape an AI tool designed to strengthen surgical and perioperative care in resource-limited environments, complementing the work already underway through SURGhub.
