InterSurgeon went live in March of this year and we are writing to update you and let you know how we have been getting on and our plans for the future. We now have over 180 members from the Paediatric Neurosurgery community and these include both individuals and departments so we have access to well over 200 paediatric neurosurgeons in 58 countries! Over 60 matches have been made so far based on 27 offers and requests. Traffic through the website is increasing day by day and so far we have had nearly 1500 visitors, so you can see we are doing well but we can do better.
For those of you who have not yet created offers or requests we urge you to take a few moments to add this to your profile. As a registered member you can access the profiles of others and send them emails but the real strength of the website is in the matching process. The website will search for others that match your profile just like a dating site but it cannot work if you don’t say what you can offer or what you require. So please spend a few moments to do this and then our website can achieve its full potential. If you don’t want to start up a new collaboration on your own, feel free to browse the site map and contact your fellow InterSurgeon members about getting involved with an existing collaboration.

We are currently adding adult neurosurgery to InterSurgeon and our Champion for this is Gail Rosseau who will be familiar to many of you for her outstanding work for the AANS and the WFNS. We are also hoping to add paediatric surgery in the next few months and are in discussion with Urology. Version 2 of the website will also include improved search capability and a running news section. We consider this a work in progress, so don’t hesitate to contact us with any suggestions you have for the site to improve functionality. Finally, we have applied for Charitable Status in the UK and are in the process of registering our trademark, so as you can see it has been a busy first six months and we want to thank you for your contribution and your continued support.
Please spread the word to your colleagues and get creating those offers and requests!
