Full details

Description of Offer

BNOS provides the foremost multidisciplinary neuro-oncology scientific meeting in the UK on a yearly basis. Attendance currently consists of mainly UK practitioners and invited international presenters. The care and treatment of brain tumour patients is a challenge, not only in the UK, but also in the rest of the world. There is an increasing realisation that there is much that can be done to support improvements in the global delivery of care, and that collaboration can benefit all partners.

The bursary is provided to cover visas, travel, reduced cost registration at the BNOS conference, and accommodation. Letters of support can be provided for visa purposes.

A short presentation slot at the conference on the challenges and possible solutions for the applicant is available.

Successful applicants will be expected to complete a report after the conference on the impact of the bursary to their practice.

Eligibility
Applicants must:
*Be citizens of low-income, lower-middle income or upper-middle income countries as defined by the World Bank. To see eligible countries visit the World Bank data page.
*Be a medical professional with a focus in neuro-oncology
*Not have previously received the bursary for a past BNOS meeting
*Not be able to attend without the benefit of the bursary
*Have no visa issues to enter the UK. BNOS cannot provide visa assistance other than providing a letter of invitation.

To apply
Please submit a one-page summary including:
*Your own details (specialty, country of work, population and region served)
*The reasons for requesting attendance
*What difference this could make from a clinical and / or research perspective for you and your practice, region, or country.

Please email to laura@bnos.org.uk by midnight on 31 January 2026.

This is a competitive process and applications will be reviewed and scored against a set criteria. Applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application by the end of February 2026.

Important information
*Once proof of a current and valid visa to enter the UK for the duration of your stay has been provided, BNOS can assist with booking and paying for flights. The cost of this will be deducted from the bursary.
*The cost of subsidised meeting registration (£200) will be deducted from the bursary.
*BNOS can organise three nights’ accommodation in Birmingham to attend the conference, the cost of which will be deducted from the bursary.
*You will be required to provide receipts for other expenditure incurred e.g. visa application costs, travel to/from airports, food etc. Reimbursements cannot be made without accompanying receipts.
*The bursary is intended to offset visa, travel, meeting registration, accommodation and subsistence expenses and may or may not cover all costs incurred in attending the meeting. Please ensure that you have sufficient funds to cover any shortfall.
