A Request in or around Nouakchott, Mauritania from Health Volunteers Overseas
HVO is launching its first project in Mauritania and is recruiting volunteers to provide online lectures. The project involves a partnership with Mohamed bin Zayed Field Hospital, a government hospital located in the capital city, Nouakchott. Built in July 2021 with funds from the United Arab Emirates to treat COVID-19 patients, the hospital now has 122 beds, 48 of which are for critically ill patients needing intensive care and 74 beds for conventional hospital services. HVO is recruiting volunteers to provide monthly lectures online to residents at the hospital who have a background in anesthesia and resuscitation and also to ICU nurses. The lectures are conducted in French and/or Arabic and will cover a range of topics, such as: how to monitor a patient in ICU; ABCD assessment; mechanical ventilation; hemodynamic monitoring; echocardiography; pulmonary echography; hospital acquired infections; and, ARDS. If interested in this remote volunteer opportunity, please contact Lisa Vu, HVO Manager of Educational Programs (l.vu@hvousa.org).
