Description
Trained in medicine and general surgery in Colombia, fellowships in pediatric surgery, pediatric urology and surgical pediatric oncologic surgery at the University of Tennessee, LeBonheur Children's hospital and St Jude in Memphis, worked two years in Bogota, Colombia, then for 13 years at The University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, left as tenured Associate Professor of Surgery and Pediatrics, worked at East Tennessee Children's Hospital and the University of Tennessee as clinical Associate professor of Surgery for 17 years, all this time I trained residents and medical students. Over 40 peer-reviewed publications, 12 book chapters, approx 30 presentations in national and international meetings and close to 200 presentations locally and internationally.

I have worked over two decades with IVUmed and Surgical Volunteers International as well as the Red Cross in Colombia in 21 workshops over the years, most with pediatric urology. I am a fellowship trained pediatric surgeon and pediatric urologist. I have been the team leader in many of these trips. Retired from clinical practice June 2023.
