Dr. Christa Grant obtained her undergraduate degree in biological sciences at City University of New York (CUNY) Herbert H. Lehman College, Bronx NY. She went on to complete her medical degree in Brooklyn, NY at State University of New York (SUNY) Downstate Medical Center in 2009, becoming the first doctor in her family. She completed her internship and residency in General Surgery at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington DC in 2016, and fellowship training in Pediatric Surgery at Mott Children’s Hospital at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor in 2018.

Dr. Grant is a clinical Associate Professor of Pediatric Surgery at New York Medical College in Valhalla, New York. She practices General Pediatric Surgery at Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, NY where she is the director of Pediatric Surgical Oncology and one of the Associate Program Directors of the General Surgery Residency Program. Her clinical and research interests are in solid tumor oncology, particularly neuroblastoma biology and treatment. Her previous research includes stem cell based intestinal tissue engineering and the tumor microenvironment in Neuroblastoma.

She has a passion for Global Surgery and has traveled to Kenya, Peru and Haiti several times with surgical teams to teach and perform surgery. Inspired by her upbringing in Jamaica and the idealist view that health equity is possible, her long-term goal is to contribute globally to curriculum development, education, and skills training in Pediatric Surgical Oncology.
