Our Mission Statement

The Gender Equity Initiative in Global Surgery (GEIGS) is a sister organization to the Program in Global Surgery and Social Change (PGSSC) at Harvard Medical School, US. It was started in 2019 to address gender disparities in the surgery, obstetrics, and anesthesia (SAO) workforce worldwide through research, advocacy, and mentorship, aiming worldwide gender equity in surgical specialties by 2030.
