Ms. Carolyn Ramwell is a global nurse educator volunteer with Physicians for Peace (PFP) an organization focused on nursing education where success is measured by creating a self-sufficient self-sustaining program. She was honored at the White House as a volunteer in 2008 for her work in Sri Lanka with Project Peds, funded by the Clinton Bush Tsunami Initiative. She has been an invited presenter at conferences focused on pediatrics, pediatric intensive and burn care in the Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Honduras, Guatemala and at the American Burn Association Annual Meeting. As a founding member of the global nursing education committee at PFP, Carolyn has promoted nursing education and professionalism throughout Central America and the Caribbean and now Malawi. She currently works at Children’s National Hospital in Washington DC as an advance practice nurse in pediatric electrophysiology

Malawi: I am functioning as the clinical nurse specialist for a pediatric surgical hospital and pediatric intensive care, the first in the country. We started with a cohort of 24 nurses that had no critical care training. It is now year three and we have a advanced beginner to competent staff mix training care of critical care pediatric patients.
