Our Mission Statement

Neuro Kids was created to transform the lives of some of the most vulnerable kids by creating centers of excellence capable of providing high-quality neurosurgical care for under-served communities around the world. Neuro Kids comes alongside neurosurgeons and their clinical teams in low-resource settings, optimizing their ability to treat pediatric neurosurgical cases, using the best available means. Propelled by pandemic-driven technological advances, Neuro Kids incorporates state of the art equipment and methods for remote and simulated learning, removing barriers to collaboration and training—namely, eliminating trainee time away, optimizing on-site time for instructors and significantly reducing the costs of training (time and money). Neuro Kids leverages distance training to make it more feasible for people to enter into those long term mentoring relationships. By design, Neuro Kids' model focuses on in-depth coaching and mentoring relationships with strategically selected neurosurgeons. Over the course of one to two years, they are positioned to serve as virtual and on-site trainers for others in their regions, leveraging their location and shared language to expand the network, independent of American capacities. This ambitious program allows for proof of concept before wider deployment. Over the course of a few cycles, the network will reach a scale where the greatest number of children have access to the neurosurgical care they need and surgeons will have the on-going mentoring and support they rely on. By 2026, we will have 20 regional centers around the world connecting neurosurgeons with the mentoring, equipment and training necessary to make the best care accessible to all children with hydrocephalus, spina bifida and other neurosurgically treatable conditions. With our model, we will create regional hubs from which to propagate networks in the West & North Africa, the Middle East, China, India and South America, intentionally pursuing a self-replicating model that is not dependent on Americans. With this design, we have the potential to reach more than 8,000 children in need of neurosurgical care by 2026, with an exponential annual growth rate of 100% or more over the next five years.
