Description
I am RM Fabrice Iradukunda, a Registered Midwife working at Munini District Hospital in Nyaruguru District, Southern Province, Rwanda. My passion lies in maternal and child health, focusing on improving safe childbirth, newborn care, and community health outreach in rural settings.
Munini District Hospital serves a large rural population and offers comprehensive maternal, neonatal, surgical, and emergency care services. Despite resource limitations, our team is dedicated to providing compassionate, quality healthcare and strengthening health systems through collaboration and training.
I am actively involved in mentoring and training midwives, nurses, and community health workers to improve healthcare delivery at the grassroots level. While Munini Hospital is not directly affiliated with a university, we work closely with the Ministry of Health and various health training institutions to support continuous professional development and practical training.
Through InterSurgeon, I aim to connect with global surgical and perioperative experts, exchange knowledge, and foster partnerships that enhance healthcare capacity in resource-limited environments. I am particularly interested in collaborative training, mentorship programs, and sustainable innovations that improve maternal and newborn outcomes.

As a Registered Midwife at Munini District Hospital in Nyaruguru District, Southern Rwanda, I have been actively involved in maternal and newborn care, emergency obstetric support, and community health outreach. I have worked closely with visiting medical teams, including anesthetists and surgical residents from international NGOs and teaching hospitals, especially during high-demand periods. In partnership with local health authorities, I have supported mentorship and training programs for junior nurses and student midwives. We’ve collaborated on projects aimed at reducing maternal and neonatal mortality, improving referral systems from health centers, and strengthening safe delivery practices. One of the main challenges we face is limited access to surgical specialists and equipment, which creates opportunities for collaborative capacity-building with external partners.
